Now that March of the Machine has been available for a bit, Magic: The Gathering Arena is embracing the (permanent?) downfall of New Phyrexia with festivals, events, and more.
The first Festival up for players to join is Historic Artisan. Running from May 1 to May 6, players must throw a deck together of just common and uncommon cards together to earn Showcase card styles of legendary creatures from March of the Machine. Festivals are not free events, costing players either 500 gems or 2,500 gold coins to participate.
Here are five card styles to pick up as rewards in this event: Baral and Kari Zev, Hidetsugu and Kairi, Yargle and Multani, Rankle and Torbran, and finally, Ghalta and Mavren. Each of the showcases depicts the legendary creatures in their planes’ specific fancy borders.
The second Festival starts right after the first one ends on May 6 and will run until May 10. This time around, however, the name of the game is Historic Brawl. Players will have their favorite legendary creature as a commander to helm a 100-card deck that is restricted to only including cards that include spells of the same color as your commander.
The rewards for this event include showcase card styles for Kolga and Yidaro, Errant and Giada, Drana and Linvala, Djeru and Hazoret, and Inga and Eskia. The price for entering this event has not yet been released but is likely to follow the first event’s style of 500 gems or 2,500 gold coins.
MagicCon: Minneapolis
Folks near Minnesota have a new MagicCon to look forward to this weekend in MagicCon: Minneapolis. Running all weekend, from May 5 to May 7, players can take in the sights, panels, special content creator guests, and more. A big draw for many players is going to be the Pro Tour Minneapolis event with $500,000 in prizes available to players.
Arena Qualifier Play-In Best-of-One
Even if you can’t make it to this weekend’s MagicCon, there is the Arena-exclusive Qualifier Play-In event. The event is a March of the Machine Sealed event, meaning players will have to build a 40-card minimum deck from six fifteen-card packs.
If best-of-one games aren’t your preference, you can always wait until May 12 for the next Qualifier Play-In event. It is also a March of the Machine Sealed event but this time in best-of-three matches. These events are the last way to earn an invite to the Qualifier Weekend event starting on May 13. Doing well at all these events could have players finding their way to the Arena Championships later this year.
