Hello Podwalkers,

Welcome back to the Goblin Lore Podcast!

In last week’s episode, the hosts had briefly discussed the story of Killian Lu that had been alluded to so far in Strixhaven’s story and drew heavily on two very important threads about this (here and here), especially as it leans into harmful stereotypes. After recording last week’s episode we reached out to Michelle (welcome back friend!) and Ryan (fist time guest!) to see if they were willing to discuss this further.

In Part 1 of our conversation with them we focus on the story of Killian so far, the myth of the model minority, as well as the idea of tiger parenting. A lot of what is discussed today also draws heavily from this video by Eugene Yang on anti-Asian hate.

Again we would like to state that Black Lives Matter (with a link to where you can offer support both monetary and not).

Goblin Lore is also are proud to have partnered with Grinding Coffee Co a black, LGBT+ affiliated and owned, coffee business that is aimed at providing coffee to gamers. You can read more about their mission here. You can use our partner code for discounted coffee!

As promised, we plan to keep these Mental Health Links available moving forward too. For general Mental Health the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has great resources for people struggling with mental health concerns as well as their families. We also want to draw attention to this article on stigma from NAMI’s site.

If you’re thinking about suicide or just need someone to talk to right now, you can get support from any of the resources below.
