Star City Games has cancelled three more stops on the SCG Tour in Atlanta, Worcester, and Cincinnati, effectively pausing their popular tournament circuit through mid-May.
Their decision to cancel more events was “[f]or the health and safety of both our staff and attendees,” Star City Games said, as well as to follow the Center for Disease Control’s recommendation that events of more than 50 people be postponed or cancelled over the next eight weeks. The cancellation of SCG Atlanta (April 4-5), SCG Worcester (April 25-26), and SCG Cincinnati (May 2-3) comes a few days after the company cancelled its remaining March events.
Today’s announcement means that two full months (and five of the 12 Opens) of the SCG Tour’s 2020 Season 1 have been cancelled. Only two more events remain on the schedule, SCG Louisville (may 23-24) and Philadelphia (May 30-31), before the 2020 Season 1 Invitational on June 11-14. Though, given the raft of cancellations in the last week, there is no guarantee than any of those events will take place as planned.
Similarly, ChannelFireball cancelled all MagicFests through mid-May last week, while Wizards of the Coast cancelled Players Tour Finals Houston and Mythic Invitational Ikoria and rescheduled all three Players Tour Series 2 events.
