Today, Wizards of the Coast revealed Signature Spellbook: Chandra, a collection of eight unique non-foil cards focusing on Chandra Nalaar, one of Magic: the Gathering’s most popular Planeswalkers. The Spellbook will be available at local games stores on June 26, 2020.
The eight cards will all come with a Chandra-themed frame that heavily features fire motifs. They will not be foil, though each set will come with a ninth card that will be a random foil version of one of the eight cards.
While Wizards no longer provides MSRPs for its products, Signature Spellbook: Chandra will likely retail for around $20, similar to previous Spellbooks. It will only be available in English.
“Most of [the cards] have new art that depicts Chandra either at a point in her life or doing the spell in question,” Wizards said. Five of those cards will have new art, like Past in Flames, and the other three will have the original art, like Chandra, Torch of Defiance. The other six will be revealed at a later date.
Art for a possible third card was used for the announcement article in Wizards’ archives. It appears to be a new image depicting a young Chandra, likely for one of the other four cards with new art, but that hasn’t been confirmed at this time.
Signature Spellbook: Chandra is the third entry in the Spellbook series, following Signature Spellbook: Jace in 2018 and Signature Spellbook: Gideon last year. Wizards previously announced a similar, Commander-themed series called Commander Collection, which will debut this year with Commander Collection: Green in the Fall of the year.
