Seth Manfield announced today that he has joined the Dallas-based esports organization Team Envy.
Envy was founded in 2007 as a professional Call of Duty team and has since grown into one of the largest and most successful esports organization in the world, even winning the 2016 Esports Team of the Year at the Esports Awards. They currently field the a professional Call of Duty team (Dallas Empire) and a professional Overwatch League team (Dallas Fuel), as well as Counterstrike: Global Offense, Overwatch Contenders, and Fortnite teams.
Manfield appears to be the first professional Magic: the Gathering player to join Envy. He has five Pro Tour/Mythic Championship Top 8s with a Pro Tour Ixalan in 2017 and won the 2015 World Championship. He tied Luis Salvatto in the 2017-18 Player of the Year race but lost the ensuing playoff. Manfield was elected to the Magic Hall of Fame in 2018.
