Today, Wizards of the Coast announced Commander Legends, a draftable Commander experience that will be released in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Don’t miss our coverage of today’s other Commander announcements: Commander 2020, Commander Collection: Green, and the Zendikar Rising Commander decks.
Commander Legends will feature 20-card booster packs with a foil and two legendary creatures in every pack. The set will have 70 new legends, including Baron Sengir (check out the art below), and isn’t based on a single plane.
Wizards hasn’t released any additional information about how drafting Commander Legends will work, but assured players that “it works great and you really feel like you’ve drafted a Commander deck.”
In the announcement, Wizards teased another card by showing its art. (The full piece is in the portrait orientation used for Planeswalkers.)
Commander Legends will also release with two accompanying Commander pre-constructed decks, similar to those that will release with Zendikar Rising. They will contain three brand new cards each that won’t be found in the draft boosters, with the rest of the cards being made up of reprints.
