This evening, MTG Arena’s Game Director Chris Clay announced that he was leaving Wizards of the Coast.
“While it is incredibly hard to announce this, I wanted to let everyone know that as of today I have parted ways with Wizards of the Coast,” Clay wrote on the MTG Arena forums. “This was a personal decision and was only made possible by knowing that I’m leaving this game in the incredibly capable hands of a team that I respect and cherish with all my heart.”
“Seeing [MTG Arena] blossom…has been one of the highlights of my career,” he continued.
Clay joined Wizards of the Coast in 2016 as the Principle Game Designer for MTG Arena and was later made its Game Director. He will be replaced as Game Director by Jay Parker, who joined Wizards in 2017 and is currently a Principle Game Designer.
