Season 9 of the Vintage Super League continues next Tuesday at 9 PM Eastern (GMT -5). We’re running a series of articles to celebrate, like our intro to VSL Season 9 and our rundowns of the Top 5 Decks in Vintage and the Top 10 Cards in Vintage. Plus, we’re running a few VSL fantasy leagues on Thousand Leagues!
Week 6 of the Vintage Super League’s ninth season is in the bag. This week, Andy Probasco went undefeated and Randy Buehler went 2-1 to reserve their spots in the playoffs, while Kevin Cron joined Erin Campbell in missing the cut.
Season 9 of VSL is organized into four groups of four players. Week 6 featured Erin Campbell, Kevin Cron, Randy Buehler and Andy Probasco, who played a full round-robin tournament Tuesday night. The competitors brought a variety of decks to the event: The Odd Couple, UWR Painter, Paradoxical Storm and Sai Outcome.

So, how did week one go for the players?

R2: Randy Buehler (Paradoxical Storm) defeats Erin Campbell (The Odd Couple) (2-1)
R3: Andy Probasco (UWR Painter) defeats Erin Campbell (The Odd Couple) (2-1)
R4: Randy Buehler (Paradoxical Storm) defeats Kevin Cron (Sai Outcome) (2-0)
R5: Andy Probasco (UWR Painter) defeats Randy Buehler (Paradoxical Storm) (2-0)
R6: Kevin Cron (Sai Outcome) defeats Erin Campbell (The Odd Couple) (2-1)
Andy Probasco (3-0)
In a week that featured two Paradoxical Outcome decks, having access to four Pyroblasts and two Painter’s Servants that turn everything Blue was a great call. Andy kept it fresh even after a tough out last time with Death’s Shadow, going undefeated this week to advance to the playoffs at 4-2. Can’t wait to see what fun things he does in the playoffs!
Randy Buehler (2-1)
Randy didn’t come out unscathed this week but he advanced to the semi finals in the playoffs with a 5-1 record. Nice job Randy! Especially on that Turn 1 kill we got to witness.
Kevin Cron (1-2)
Kevin tried something a bit fringe-y with Sai, Master Thopterist in Paradoxical Outcome storm. We didn’t really get to see it work out and unfortunately Kevin is now out for the playoffs at 3-3. Well played this week and we’ll hopefully see him in future seasons of the VSL.
Erin Campbell (0-3)
Unfortunately, it was a tough run for Erin in this season of VSL. Erin played it out to an 0-6 record on the back of the great starting hands into really rough draws. Erin tried to show us something fun and different this season and it just didn’t check for her. We’ll hopefully see her back in Season 10!
