On today’s Minute: Wizards finally released the decklists for Duel Decks: Merfolk vs Goblins. Plus, Mark Rosewater announced another R&D process evolution.
This morning, Wizards of the Coast released the full decklists for Duel Decks: Merfolk vs Goblins. The 60-card decks are both mono-colored and feature two of Magic’s most popular tribes. The decks contain a host of interesting reprints, including a few Merfolk that haven’t been printed in the modern frame before, like Tidal Warrior and Tidal Courier. The decks will be available to purchase on November 10th from your local game store.
Yesterday, Magic’s head designer Mark Rosewater revealed that Wizards’ design and development process had undergone yet another evolution. Rosewater wrote that the old system of separate design and development teams had been inherited from Magic’s original expansion sets and that that process was no longer sufficient for producing competitively balanced sets. The new process will include designers and developers working in integrated teams, as well as the new Play Design team, whose sole purpose is to test constructed formats. Next January’s Rivals of Ixalan will be the first set designed with this new process in mind, though April’s Return to Dominaria will be the first set designed entirely with this new process in place.
