On today’s Minute: Ixalan officially releases today, plus two team limited GPs, and Magic Puzzle Quest has a new developer.
After months of anticipation, Ixalan, along with its tribes of vampires, merfolk, dinosaurs, and pirates, officially releases today. Make sure to check out your local game store for some fun release weekend events.
As has become tradition, the release of a new set means release weekend limited Grand Prix. But this time there’s a twist: the format for GPs Shizuoka and Providence this weekend is team limited, in which teams of three players open 12 packs and build three sealed decks. Tune in to twitch.tv/magic for live coverage of GP Providence starting Saturday at 10:30AM Eastern to watch the first high-level competition featuring Ixalan.
D3 Go!, the publisher behind the popular Puzzle Quest mobile games, announced this week that it has hired Oktagon Games to takeover development of Magic: the Gathering Puzzle Quest. Oktagon Games replaces the previous developer, Hibernum, which went out of business in August. Ixalan is expected to arrive in Magic Puzzle Quest in November, but there is no timetable for other long-promised features such as the ability to craft packs of cards.
