I recently realized it’s been several months since I have done an update on any of my beloved Post lists. There have been a few changes with cards from the last few sets so I thought this week I would do a short update on what has been added in and how I feel about those cards. Make sure you read my past article on Mono-Green Post if you’re looking for a more in depth review of the deck.

The first change you’ll notice is the addition of the new Emrakul, the Promised End. This card is underrated and amazing. I was excited for her and I still didn’t realize how strong that she would be! Every time I’ve cast her my opponent hasn’t been scared, even ignoring chances to Thoughtseize her away when I would be casting her next turn. She seems like just a big beater, who cares right? And then I take my opponents turn and they all of a sudden realize that they’ve made a huge mistake.
My favorite game where I’ve been able to cast her, I took my opponents turn like so:
- Sacrifice all my opponents creatures since I have a Tabernacle out;
- Cast Brainstorm, put back a Clique I don’t want to deal with, along with a Swords to Plowshares;
- Cast Jace but then Force it pitching True-Name Nemesis;
- Cast Ponder and shuffle away all of that stuff, draw a fetchland for my opponent;
- Profit!!!
Seriously, I felt like an evil genius putting that turn together and my opponent, who was left hellbent, scooped when I ended the turn. I am really surprised not to see more people running Emrakul. Her cast trigger is much better than people give her credit for.
The next addition you will see is four Grapple with the Past. This card is another underrated champion. It is an instant so I can hold it up, it digs to lands or creatures so it’s good at any point in the game, and it can help me bring a creature back if necessary. I haven’t found a downside to this card yet, and I’m pretty happy with it.
The last addition has been Splendid Reclamation to the sideboard. Wasteland lock is the hardest thing for this version of Post to fight through, but a well timed Splendid Reclamation can bring me back from the deepest abyss. It’s a great card to help rebuild.
I know this is a fairly short update but I’ve had a lot of people asking for me to share the changes I’ve made with the list (with Aaron’s help of course). I’ll try to update some of my other lists (such as MUD) in the near future! If you guys have any questions hit me up on Twitter and I’ll make sure to expand on anything you’re curious about!
